CLOU Posted February 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2019 My travel agent contacting me for final payment info has gotten me thinking more about my upcoming cruise at the end of May. Besides celebrating my birthday, which I have never done on a cruise, my husband and I will pass 100 sailed days on orms cruise, but my 100th day will be toward the end of the cruise. I am sure this will be after the repeat guests party, when the awards are normally presented. Unlike moving up to the next category of Seabourn Club membership, where the benefits don't go into effect until the next time you sail, I thought one received the milestone reward on this cruise on which you reach the milestone. Can anyone confirm if this is true, even of that date is late in the cruise? Not that I am expecting any great prize, just a token of appreciation, but I am just curious. Also, do we have to attend the repeat guest party to receive the award, since we sometimes skip this event?
sfvoyage Posted February 22, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2019 (edited) You will be recognized at the Club event on the cruise, no matter on which day your actual 100th sailed day falls. Since there are usually quite a few passengers reaching the 100-day milestone, you will most likely not be invited on stage. Instead, the cruise sales specialist will read off the names of all the passengers in the same cohort, with applause at the end of the list. (You will get a tiny Seabourn pin - most guests like the small Tiffany box and bag better than the useless pin!) Those who reach the higher milestones (200, 500,1000, etc. sailed days, along with the "most sailed day" for the segment) do get invited on stage, but anyone can decline. Rare FlyingScotSailors Posted February 22, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2019 You should get your 100 day gift on the cruise you reach 100 days. It will be delivered to your suite before the Club party, and you do not have to go to the party. As sfvoyage said, the list of names will be read. You could speak to the Club representative/cruise sales specialist to be sure your info has been sent to the ship. We thought the lapel pin was very nice, and various officers have noticed when we wear them and seem quite pleased.
Rare texanaust Posted February 23, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2019 We were awarded our pins two cruises ago. It was totally embarrassing to stand up at the Club event and be 'recognized'. I wish I'd chosen NOT to be recognized. I know some people like this sort of thing, but we will not be attending future club parties-not our type of thing. Plus if you're on Ovation or Encore and plan to dine in the main restaurant, you will need to arrive before the party is over in order to make the show. The pins look nice, but I've never seen anyone wear one onboard. Maybe they would be nice to use on a formal night on a competing cruise line... tv24 Posted February 23, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2019 I loved the Tiffany box and bag and had fun re-using them.

We reach the 100-day milestone on an upcoming Encore cruise and have decided to skip the club party event. The recognition bit is not our thing, although I'm happy to get the pin, if only for the Tiffany box!

CLOU Posted February 23, 2019 Author #9 Share Posted February 23, 2019 Thanks for all the info. We also do not like any fuss so we will likely skip the event. While I will not likely where the pin it is still nice that Seaborn recognizes the loyalty, even for those of us who do not like the public attention. sfvoyage Posted February 23, 2019 #12 Share Posted February 23, 2019 +1. Totally agree that this type of commercial "award" in public is embarrassing at best. After all, no intelligence, talent, perseverance or character is required, only ample leisure time and disposable income... Still, if one doesn't mind being a pawn in this type of aspirational loyalty marketing scheme, I guess it doesn't hurt to partake in such spectacle. Obviously, attendance is optional, and as mentioned, one can also choose to attend but decline (in advance) to accept the award on stage, in which case they will normally still mention your name, but I suppose you can ask to suppress that as well.
