Tender off the ship in George Town

I'll be going on a MSC cruise that will come to George Town on March 12, 2019.

I've booked something (not from the cruiseline) for 10:30.

 

My ship is supposed to arrive at 8:00, but I've read tenders are used to get to shore.

Is it reasonable to assume I can get offboard within 2 hours after arrival?

You will have to go to an announced location (unless you are YC or Black Card) and get a numbered tender ticket.  We are not early risers, so by the time we were ready to leave the ship, at about 1030, they were announcing you no longer needed a ticket.  So yes, you can get off in time if you go early for a tender ticket.  It will all be explained onboard.  EM

I have tendered at Grand Cayman via NCL...I think you'll be fine 2 hours after you arrive.

GC uses their own tenders.  Big ones that hold 200+ people.  It's probably the most organized tendering I've ever seen. 

 

Getting on/off is the choke point for big ships.

Big tenders for sure, the last time I was in Grand Cayman, there were 5 ships in port...Holland was the only ship as far as I could tell using their own tenders...it was pretty easy to get on and off with the large tenders...but 5 ships in port, that's another story.

In our many trips to GT, tendering was crowded, slow and frustrating.  One would hope that you private excursion is aware of this.  Worse than getting off was reembarking, long up to and hour wait in lines in the hot sum, tough on kids especially!  Cayman is just a so-so destination in our experiences.
