Genoa help?

I am a solo traveler with very open options, not in a big hurry to get home. I will be disembarking in Genoa the beginning of April.  My home base is NYC.  Can anyone recommend tours of genoa and possibly other detours while up in the northern area. Thinking about maybe Venice. And what would be a good airport in the region to use for best flight options, non-stop and price?  I've heard mention of Madrid airport if there is easy train access? thanks

Venice, the Cinque Terre, Lake Como. We usually fly in and out of Milan because of the price.

Hi There!  We cruised out of Genoa in November.  Pre-cruise we came on train from Venice and post cruise we went via train to Florence and flew to USA from Florence airport the next day after we did a whirlwind tour of the beautiful city.  All of that worked great!

We are flying out of Milan MXP because it’s way cheaper and shorter than Genoa. I know there is a direct flight to EWR.
