Carnival - Sharks, Rays, Barrier Reef Snorkel & Island Escape

Trying to get some info regarding "Sharks, Rays, Barrier Reef Snorkel & Island Escape" excursion from someone who has been on it. It says minimum age is 5 and we will have a 7 year old with us who has never been snorkeling. Just trying to understand what type of 'snorkeling' is done here and if someone who is a complete beginner would be able to do this.

I have never seen a shark off the coast of Roatan.
