Trial of Online Check in for P&O

I have had an email from P&O about a trial for Online Check in:

"Online check-in is now open for your cruise

We're currently trialling online check-in to make your pre-holiday experience all the more hassle-free.

Online check-in is simple and secure. Once you've entered all of the required details online you can look forward to shorter online check-in only queues at the cruise terminal - and get your holiday started even sooner!"

I think this is a good proposal as it could reduce the queues at the terminals.  It did not work for me as the year of issue of my current passport is not included in the drop down box.  I am sure that this minor problem in computer systems analysis will be easily solved.

There is another thread currently discussing this titled 'earliest check in time'. 

It does sound good to me, although I have never experienced long queues at Southampton.

We travel by coach and are always checked in about 5 minutes after we arrive. This seems like we would have our photos taken and then be straight on board.

I've been doing online check-in with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity for a few years now.  Works really well.  When I sailed on the Ovation out of Southampton, they had people with iPads checking us in.  I checked out of the Holiday Inn at 10:45, walked with my case to the ship, checked in and was having my first drink by the pool bar at 11:10!
