Budget rent a car downtown Miami not recommended

Lesson learned. We rented a car in Palm Beach at the airport and dropped off at downtown Budget location prior to our cruise. It was a ...zoo. It didn’t matter we were Fastbreak members. We waited over 30-45 minutes to “check in” our car. They were woefully understaffed. We had already planned to Uber to port ... rather than use the shuttle...for which there was a massive line. But... Uber took forever (seems many had that idea as well).

I immediately cancelled my rental for our return to port ...and booked a rental from Miami airport. MUCH easier. We took a taxi from port to Miami airport to Budget at MIA . Picked up car...and then headed to our hotel in West Palm for the night ( we flew in/out of PBI).

The downtown Miami locations are usually very busy on turnaround days. They are small facilities that don’t have the room and employees needed when things get busy. So much easier to head to the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center which is open twenty four hours a day, seven days a week that has adequate inventory, better rates, and enough employees to handle the busy times.
