I am a Texan.   I have done only a single cruise from Galveston. I was with a large group. The ones who stayed in Galveston were not that pleased.  You may do better to stay in Houston, drive down and park on the long term lot.

Any shuttle would need to be arranged from the airport.   The Houston airports are not that close to Galveston.  I think the shuttle service is called Super Shuttle

We are from Kansas, & driving down to Galveston for our Vista cruise.  We found a hotel -- Gaido's Seaside Inn -- that allows parking for the length of our cruise plus a shuttle to the port.  They do not offer a pick up at the port to retrieve your car though.  We will take a taxi to get our car or possibly walk.  It's a mile or 2 from the port area.  This hotel gets good ratings & is fairly reasonably priced considering the cost of long term parking at the port was about $80 US dollars for the week.
