Upgrade to Premium

Recommended Posts

How easy is it onboard to upgrade to Premium AI, and at what point on embarking can you do this please? We tried to do it in TA but they said we have to do it onboard.

Thanks Sue

As soon as you step onboard you will be asked by every waiter/waitress that you make eye contact with,  You will be asked at least a dozen times within a couple of hours. Thankfully after the first day they pretty much leave you alone. I think they may be on a bit of commission when they sell the upgrades so who can blame them.?😉

You can still order the premium drinks and pay a supplement. Its not the full price, just  1 or 2 quid extra.Last year we drank vodka and diet coke, but we only drink cans. They were on the premium package at 50p supplement,so 2 or 3 quid a night not a big deal.

We found it very useful particularly for the premium coffee's, you can only purchase it on the first & second day and the staff's commission is extra time off in port😉

We never upgraded until we went on Dream in December where the basic AI package was somewhat limited.  Like Pensioncruiser we really appreciated it for drinks in the Coffee Port plus we liked the superior wine selection with dinner (although there was only 2 of us we were always given a bottle which was nice) and I am partial to Grey Goose Vodka.

You can now pre-book the premium package from cruises sailing May onwards BUT this loses the staff their commission for on board sales.  We upgraded when we booked for this coming November stupidly not thinking at the time of the crew commission until we had pressed 'book' but on any future cruises we will buy the package when we get on board so the crew still get a small perk.
