We have a cruise booked that has us disembarking in Barcelona.  We are scheduled to come in at 6:00.

We are looking to book a walking tour our furst day to help us learn a bit about the area.

There are two time options 11:00 and 3:00.  There is another tour that offers 11:30 if anyone thinks that makes a difference.

I would prefer to do the walking tour early in our day to get us orientated, but not sure if the 11:00 start would work.

We would need time to disembark, get a taxi to our accomodation, get situated there (store our luggage with them, check in, etc.  Then get to the meeeting point (maybe 15 minutes walk from accomodation)

Thoughts?

Disembarkation in Barcelona (twice) was easy...You should have plenty of time to get to your hotel and register by 11am although you will be lucky if your room is ready....

Hotels generally will look after your suitcases either in a proper storage area or stacked in reception. However, safe storage for valuables is variable and you do need to clarify how secure you luggage is....As Barcelona is (unfortunately), like many European cities, subject to high levels of pick pocketing it is important to clarify. If a hotel will let you drop off valuables in your room safe (even if your room service is incomplete) or offer you a safety deposit box then that is a bonus...

Barcelona is a big city...personally we would look at using the hoho bus rather than a walking tour to get an overview. This would then take the pressure off you from meeting a group at a specified time and be easier if the temperatures are high which they frequently are.

We love Barca! It is a wonderful city. Make sure you save enough time/energy to book a restaurant with a wonder view one evening to really soak in and enjoy its ambience...

Hope you have a great cruise and fantastic stay in Barcelona!

You should be able to make a 11:00 tour with no problem.  If the tour is of the Barre Gothic definitely recommend it.  We have been to Barcelona 8 times for periods of 2 - 7 days and agree the HOHO is great.  After 4 visits we did a walking tour of the Barre Gothic with Runner Bean tours and wished we had done it sooner.

Thanks for the replies!  This will be our first time in Barcelona.

We are staying just off of Las Ramblas, so we thought the Gothic walking tour would help us with the immediate area.  Our cruise is October 28 - Nov 5, staying in Barcelona from November 5 - 9.  I think the weather will be pleasant (if not raining), for a walking tour.

We are also going to look into the HOHO, to introduce ourselves to Barcelona.

The accomodation has paid storage locker facility, which I am ok with knowing our luggage will be locked up safetly.

We are currently booked with another tour company for 3:00 (I have read positives things about them as well), but I think Runner Bean at 11:00 would be a better option.  Gets us familiar right away, and we have heard great things about the company.

I just wanted reassurance that 11:00 is doable and not too rushed.  :)

Can you recommend a few options for restaurants with a nice view?
Thanks for the suggestion :)
