James4me Posted May 30, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2019 I’m having back surgery in late September. We are booked on the Panorama, with Havana. I’m thinking I should order a wheelchair or scooter to get about just in case I’ll need it. I think I’d just go for the scooter. Does Carnival provide them or do I need to go to somewhere else. I don’t plan on doing much but relaxing but I love all the ports, Cabo especially but I’ll have to stay aboard for that. I will want to get around Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan as I can exit the ship easily. Who should I contact? BTW our cruise is late May.
cherylandtk Posted May 30, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2019 (edited) Scooters must be ordered and rented from the approved vendor for the cruise line. Also, you will need to make sure your scooter fits through the door; most scooters need the width of a handicapped accessible doorway. A standard room likely will not accommodate a scooter. check with the special needs department. You’ll need to notify them in advance: Edited May 30, 2019 by cherylandtk
Schoifmom Posted May 30, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 30, 2019 https://www.carnival.com/about-carnival/special-needs.aspx Read the section on mobility limitations. All the information you will need is there, including a link to their only approved rental provider.
llachance Posted May 30, 2019 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2019 I had back surgery on March 11th and just cruised last weekend. Depending on how extensive your surgery is you should be just fine. That said I relaxed more than I ever have in the past - so the cruise had a different feel for sure.
