Question on upgrade offer ?

Good evening . We will be sailing on the Conquest in September. We were scheduled to sail to Cuba on the Sensation.   Carnival just offered us an upgrade . We are booked for a Balcony on the Empress and they offered us a Balcony on the Spa Deck. Is this good? I have never been that high up. My first Carnival sailing since 2000. I’ve only been on Fantasy Class ships. I would appreciate any opinions.

We took an upgrade to the spa deck on the Liberty. The balcony was ok. It had a sliding door which was nice. There is no cover to the balcony so if it's raining, it's raining on you. If you're at the glass on your balcony there could be people on the open decks looking down on you. If that's a deal killer, then just know that. The room was in a great location. Easy access to Lido and everything forward. We loved the quiet nature of the spa deck. Only 18 or so cabins. I guess it depends how particular you are about your current location. I was happy to take the upgrade as I wasn't in love with our location and the upsell was only about $70.

There are no kids in spa cabins so that was worth it for me.

There is no rule or regulation by Carnival that bars children in Spa Deck cabins, nor from Cloud 9 Spa cabins (OP the Sensation does not have these cabins). We book these whenever possible because we like to be up as high on the ship as we can get and every time there has been at least one cabin with kids in it.

Check on what room they are offering you. I was called for an upgrade only to research the room was in a bad location. Yes, it was an upgrade but an upgrade to a non covered balcony. I decided once I checked, once I book a cruise I always download the deck plan on my phone just in case I have a question or think about it again.  Shoot  I just changed my room on Mardi Gras with the new updated deck plan.

Being that these are 2 person cabins and under 18 can't use the spa, the odds of kids are slim to none.

The Sensation does not even have a Spa Deck much less one with cabins on it. On the Conquest all of the Spa Deck balcony cabins are quads with a king (or 2 twin XLs), an upper pullman, and sofa bed, and a few are even connected cabins. So why wouldn't a family that wants the top view not book there? Additional your info about under 18 being excluded from the spa, salon, and gym is incorrect. See highlighted section of the Carnival FAQs below:
