Carnival Splendor Pilates question

Recommended Posts

We are traveling on the Splendor in September.   Wondering if anyone has taken the pilates class(es) on board.   Are they mat or reformer based?  What days and times are they offered?   Thinking about pre-purchasing some classes, but didn't want to commit if the classes are offered at times we would not be available.

Thanks in advance

Linda

Carnival says it is available on All Ships. Apologies, as I do not know the answer to the other questions, however, I recommend calling Carnival for this. Unfortunately, since Carnival does not own their spa services company, they might not be of much assistance.

I usually go to the gym at least a few days on every cruise. I always plan to go every day but that never happens. I don’t recall ever seeing any reformers on any ship, although I haven’t specifically looked for them. My guess is Pilates classes would be mat based, since even if I missed seeing a reformer on a ship, I think I would have noticed if there were a half dozen or so reformers.

Hi,

There are no reformers on the ship! Most gyms that offer pilates do it on mats unless it is a specific pilates gym. I would not pre book exercise classes. See how you feel when you are on the ship.

I use the gym often but have found that the only classes I really enjoy are the stretch classes.

To me yoga and pilates are best done in specialist studios and not at gyms.

No reformers - mat based, and were only held very early in the morning - before 8. I'm a reformer (and yoga) person myself, and don't care for the yoga or pilates classes on the ships - I feel like they are very advanced for the average person, and that (in my opinion) can lead to injury if not done properly. I do use the gym on board, almost daily. I've borrowed yoga mats and do my own yoga...usually on the very top outdoor deck (where there used to be topless sunbathing). Very peaceful and not a heavy foot traffic area.

I agree that the gym instructors on board do not adjust the classes to fit the ability levels of the students. They don't offer any adjustment advice and just go through the class which is why I don't go to yoga or pilates on the ships.
