Neet's Bay

Has anyone done the excursion from Ketchikan to see the bears at Neet's Bay?  What did you think?  We will be in Ketchikan 

on Aug. 3rd.

Took the excursion several yrs ago, an yes we saw four bears, the last bear got within 10 feet of us, then the tour guide said, "ok guys back up." There was nothing between us an the bear, it was more interested in gettin a fish, us. There's a salmon hatchery there, an the guides don't try to stop the bears from takin a salmon, when they want one. Took video of the bears an still have it.

Thanks for posting your experience. We're considering this excursion in Alaska as well. We're looking at bear watching tours in Ketchikan and Juneau, so it's very helpful to get your insights.

From Ketchikan, we can highly recommend booking the bear watching tour to Traitors Cove with Island Wings. Michelle is a very experienced pilot and the tour was great and a better viewing experience all around compared to photos I've seen at the salmon hatchery at Neets Bay.
