That would be convenient for us as we will be in Melbourne December 3 to the 6th and then as a cruise stop on December 15th, a Sunday. Can we get to St. Kilda and Brighton Beach directly from the cruise port without going into the CBD first? Yes, your myki will be good for the time you are in Melbourne. There is an expiry date of four years from when bought. Just top it up as required and ensure you tap on and off when needed - the attached photo will explain this. This link will also help - https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/assets/default-site/tickets/myki/About-myki/9efa23c09a/2019-Your_go_to_guide_to_myki-DL-8pp_Accessible_v01_FA.pdf To get to Brighton Beach from Port Melbourne you will need to go into the city and catch a train from either Flinders St station or Southern Cross Station to Brighton Beach railway station. To get to St Kilda, you can walk, a fair way but quite doable. Or catch a tram. which means you will have to travel almost into the city on the tram/light rail (tram 109) from Port Melbourne and change to the St Kilda tram (96) at either stop 125 or 124 (outside Crown Casino). This journey would take approx. 35 mins. Of course you can also catch a taxi to both places. Leigh Edited August 1, 2019 by possum52

Can we get to St. Kilda and Brighton Beach directly from the cruise port without going into the CBD first? I am also interested in St Kilda and Brighton Beach, but when I queried the public transportation system it looked like it was not exactly easy or quick to go either place from the port. I think from the port we'll need to go north to the CBD and transfer to another tram or bus to get to St Kilda. I may just call an Uber or taxi instead. For the Brighton Beach bathing boxes I entered "Brighton Life Saving Club" into the public transportation site to get information. It's farther south than St Kilda and even a little more complicated, unless you're willing to walk quite a bit. I don't mind doing that, but my husband may find it a little difficult. I used www.ptv.vic.gov.au to get information. Use "Station Pier" as the "from" location (i.e., the cruise port - and I believe where ALL cruise ships dock, and also where Spirit of Tasmania ferry docks, I believe). I've never been to Melbourne, so just muddling my way through this myself. However, since I've been doing some research, I thought I'd add what information I have so far.
