Any T-Mobile Users?

I’m sure this is a dumb question, but I recently changed my provider to T- Mobile, and every day I get a “Welcome to France ( or Ireland etc).  You have up to 2g free data and texting” or something similar.  

 I have the WiFi package on the ship, and my settings are WiFi On, Airplane mode On, and Dara Roaming OFF.

Can someone tell me how to go about accessing this free coverage when I am off the ship?  What settings do I use, and how will I know if I go over the amount of free data from T-Mobile?  Thanks.

You should have it in normal cell phone operating status, just like at home. Airplane mode needs to be off, and most importantly, data roaming needs to be on. Data roaming off is a factory standard setting, to avoid people getting unexpected huge bills.

Just don't forget to go back on airplane mode when you return to the ship.
