QV single cabins

Who has personal experience of Queen Victoria's new single outside cabin (KC), what kind of noise they, if any, they have from the Empire Casino on deck 2? I am planning World Cruise 2021 with QV as a solo pax., and I would like to know what type of cabins these are.

Avoid cabin '2018' at all costs ! I've just returned from Queen Elizabeth ( cabin 2018) and had a battle with onboard customer services to change rooms. Looking at the deck plans for Q.Victoria, cabin 2018  looks in a similar position as I had on QE.

I heard no noise from the casino, however, this area is a bit of a short cut ( rat run) for various crew members to the 'crew access and working area' at the end of the corridor adjacent to cabin 2018 !

Look carefully at the deck plans, the  area adjacent to 2018 is a heavily used washing up area for ( I assume the Queens Room)  Bar/glass  and afternoon tea crockery etc. The noise throughout the day and into late evenings is unacceptable.

For a world cruise I wouldn't entertain these cabins, hardly any 'Hanging  Space' for storage, one small tiny wardrobe !  I've just returned back from a 10/12 day Alaska cruise , as a guy I had half my stuff hanging on the two wall hooks 😱

As a Seasoned Cunarder, I can't believe why I bothered rushing to book one of these new single cabins,  much rather look for a deal on a standard double occupancy cabin.

OMG!  We have booked 2006/8 for an upcoming cruise.  I am very worried!!

Don't be,  I've been in most of the single staterooms on the QV and none of them are what I would term "Steerage", I'm sure you will have a great trip and with all due respect to BellBoy,   Its all very subjective. I was in the Disability Princess suite on the QV  during the world cruise in 2016 for a month and it was fabulous and it had been slammed by a couple of posters on here previous to me being in it. I couldn't then and still today see what was wrong with it.

Ps - Hi Bell Boy hope you are going to do a review because Im looking forward to doing that trip myself and look forward to your comments.

Thanks Roscoe.  We are sailing on QM2 which I forgot to put in my post.

I haven't been in the QM2 KB single cabins on Deck 2 where you have booked, but have in the Deck 3 KC ones .. I wouldn't swap out of one of those for anything (and I'm just back from the QM2 in a single occupancy balcony cabin).

Thanks showingdiva.  Unfortunately all Deck 3 were booked.   I am concerned however of maybe noise on Deck 2.  I have spoken with Cunard and they have categorically insisted there is no noise from areas around Deck 2.

I seem to recall someone on this forum said they had a problem with noise in the Deck 2 single cabins on the QM2, but there also seems to be others who had had no issue.   That said, I've just been in a sheltered balcony, and there also seems to be reviews from people who would never book one of those either.  I had no issues whatsoever.

Sorry, OP - I haven't been in any of the QV / QE ones.

Yes, I read that topic and that's when I telephoned Cunard.  I do not want an upgrade as I think the solo cabins are well furnished, just the noise concerns me.  However showingdiva you are putting my mind at rest!! Thank You.

Don't worry about QM2 based on a review of a cabin on Queen Elizabeth, the ships have a completely different layout.

Hello Rosco, I'm referring specifically to Stateroom 2018 on Queen Elizabeth, I have no experience of any of the other single staterooms adjacent or in the surrounding area.

I had to move on day three due to the unacceptable noise from the heavily used crew working area which is directly next door to 2018.

I was given to understand (from an onboard future cruise specialist ) when in confidence thy told me I had not been the first guest to complain from cabin 2018.

Thanks for your help.

There is a huge difference with price for World Cruise; KC-cabins 16 000 GBP and double cabin for solo pax. from 32 000 GBP. The sizes are KC 180ft2/17m2 and EB/EC/EF/FB/FC-obstructed 180-200ft2/17-19m2.

One 3 star cruise line offer World Cruise (120 nights) for 16 800 GBP single outside cabin (188ft2/17.5m2).

Should I look Cunard´s Queen Victoria (112 nights) with KC-cabin (and hope if there is any upgrade) for should I go with 3 star cruise line?

What type of special events on board Cunard offer during World Cruise, is there any change to get some complimentary drinks/tips packages for this type of cruise as a solo pax?

I stayed in 2002 and there was noise from steward locker room which sounded like the steward using an ice machine which woke me each morning. Noise when docking also appeared to come from the Bow thrusters. No noise from the casino or theatre. Hot water took along time to come through (4-5 minutes!) to the tap which the steward said was because these are retrofitted staterooms. The location of the staterooms I found to be excellent. I enjoyed laying in bed and being able to see out of the window!

hi Gary, looking forward to seeing you next year, those windows in the single staterooms are bigger than the normal ocean view ones as well as they used to be the Casino ones....i think that one you had was the largest of the Single Staterooms, it looks great on the plans.

All of those forward staterooms get the sound of the bow thrusters, personally i love it, but then if we are coming in or out of port I'm never in bed so it wouldn't bother me..its only you late risers that it would bother...😀
