Carnival Miracle casino empty

Just got back from our July 12th cruise. Booked a decent casino rate with some perks but what a letdown.

- Craps table had 2 night's that were fun with some people playing for about an hour but my game of choice is 3/2 blackjack.

- Only one table available every evening and I had to ask to have it opened. They didn't seem to mind but after awhile it was wondering, do they even want my action?!

I ended up being the only player on that table all week. (their words)

There are benefits to playing straight up but let's face it, hand counts rack up pretty quickly and at $25 a hand bankroll management must be controlled.

So I am curious, has anybody else had a similar experience like this lately? ($25 tables with no action)

I can't speak for Carnival but on my last cruise on the NCL Bliss there was plenty of action at $50.00 a hand, shoe game. On more than one night the minimum in the high roller room was $500.00 a hand.  The high limit room when it was $100.00 hand was the best deal going.  Six decks, double on anything, split four times, dealer held on soft 17.  If they keep messing with blackjack I will have to learn Craps or just stick to land based casinos.  As a side note if you play at $25.00 a hand switch to NCL.  After your first cruise you will get an inside cabin anytime to anywhere anytime you want to go.  You just call up the players club and they will take care of you.  I pay an admin fee and the upcharge and get a balcony.

We were on the Miracle in late April on a Premier Casino Cruise and it was quite busy, but then it was a Premier cruise with lots of gamblers.  Have sailed on the Miracle at other times, not on Premier cruises, and the casino was busy. But then we don't cruise during the summer because of all the kids. Maybe your empty casino was because it was in July and lots of families on board and parents were with their kids and not going to the casino. I play the slots mostly and prefer an empty casino so I can go from machine to machine with ease.

Just got off the Grand to Alaska. With few exceptions, I was the sole player at the $25 3/2 table. But it was always open, at least. The Let It Ride table had almost no action. The table that was almost always full up was WPT Heads Up poker. I HAVE been on other ships where I have had to ask for a 3/2 table (i won’t play 6/5 on principle!).

I find the NCL info very interesting... Thanks for the heads up on that!

The July/familes angle is something I hadn't taken into consideration as well.

I'm only on HAL but I've had the same experience there as the OP describes on Carnival.  NO WAY I'll ever play at a 6/5 table on land OR at sea.  So on HAL I always have to ask for the higher-limit 3/2 table to be opened.  And on sea days I'm there when the tables first open.  On the smaller HAL ships (only one pit) they have always done this for me.  And, like the OP, I'm usually playing alone at the $25 table in the daytime. And that's a good thing because the higher limit keeps the inexperienced players off.  On the rare occasions that someone has joined me they've always been fine players who can be trusted to do the right thing.

However, on the larger HAL ships they will never open the 3/2 table until after dinner because it's in another pit from the one that's open all day and they'll need more floor personnel.  So the sea days are boring for me on the larger ships because I can never play blackjack.  I will not play blackjack with drunks so that keeps me off the tables at night, on land or at sea.   But I guess that's my problem.  YMMV.
