Heard that the Guiness World Book of Records is considering awarding this site "The Most Redundant Topic Ever" award because of the never ending Dress code questions that almost always have the same posts each time.  Time for a sticky, yes indeed.

Was this at Main Fixed seating?

Does it make a difference if it's main fixed or anytime?  DH now wears dress pants and a button down shirt for formal night.  He used to wear a coat and tie until the dress code got more relaxed.  We always do anytime dining.

I hope it doesn't matter.  We are 2nd seating for our upcoming cruise and DH will not be in a jacket for Gala or any night.  With the advent of more relaxed workday attire he doesn't own a jacket or suit any longer.  We also see no need to go to the expense for these items when they just aren't called for anymore.

IME Early Open seating is the most casual and Main (late) Fixed the least casual. A jacket is never required, but he is more likely to be in the minority without one at 2nd Fixed.
