They are not huge... but not too small either.  Larger than the stateroom after :-)
We felt comfortable with the perks and amenities  - and did not spend much time in the room anyway.

And as I said, the location could not have been better (espacially for the price).

THANK YOU so much, didn't mean you to go to this trouble, very much appreciated.

Looks ideal and as you say not in the room for long anyway  -  the location is definitely appealing to us.

Excellent!

We are arriving (end of cruise) in Hong Kong towards the end of September.  We are staying at the New Millennium Hotel.  I stayed there about 10 years ago (different name). It was a great location!

We are watching HK news for updates and hoping things calm down sooner than later.

I will also check to see if rates have come down since we booked!

Civil unrest, protest & demonstrations continuing - tend to be on weekends ... it's not clear whether it will ease up by September as some of them will be back in their classrooms.  Police response has been tamed and measured, using non-lethal forces but included use of tear gas, beanbag shots & rubber bullets - avoid & turn around, stay clear of those areas if caught unexpectedly ... ask & check with hotel's front desk before heading out.

I did a quick sample of upcoming hotel rates for this Fall - late October weekends, for the Tsim Sha Tsui area ... most of them are near the waterfront, Salisbury Road, Nathan Road and/or by the MTR rails or A21 airporter bus line, unless otherwise noted.  These are their lowest advertised rates, usually the smaller/est ones - and can feel rather small, but functionally designed well, air-conditioned & stocked with basic amenities and daily housekeeping services.  Upgraded/club level are available for most of them, at higher rates.  Almost all of them are within walking distance of the Star Ferry, shops & restaurants.  HK Airport Express, Kowloon Station is about 10 to 15 minutes of free shuttle ride on multiple routes away to the west.  Kai Tak Cruise Terminal should all be 20 to 30 minutes taxi ride away on a metered fare of about $15 USD including tips & nominal surcharge, no tolls involved  - always make sure the meter is running & get/ask for the printed receipt (do not get taken for a long & "scenic" ride.)  Google for trip time & distance before leaving, free WiFi is almost a given at most hotels these days and available for no charge at all MTR stations, airports & cruise terminals.

YMCA - $165

Stanford Hillview - $140 ** a little far east of the rest

Butterfly on Prat - $185

Holiday Inn Golden Mile - $205

Mira (on Nathan Road) - $215

Sheraton Hong Kong (Salisbury & Nathan Rd) - $230

Marco Polo (near/connected to the Ocean Terminal) - $240

Langham - $380

Today’s  advice from the Australian government for travellers to Hong Kong-

Latest update
We have raised our advice level for Hong Kong: we now recommend you 'exercise a high degree of caution'. Protests have become more unpredictable and are expected to continue. Tourist areas have been affected. There is a risk of violent confrontation between protestors and police, or criminally-linked individuals, particularly at unathorised protests. The risk is greater at night and on weekends. We strongly recommend you avoid large public gatherings. Monitor local media and follow the advice of local authorities. See Safety and security.

Boatharbour, We are seasoned travelers and certainly won't put ourselves at risk!  Thank you for your comments!

Yes, things are certainly getting heated up over there.  I don't get ANY information from Viking.  In fact, the guy I spoke to had NO CLUE as to anything going on in Hong Kong!  We also know they are given "canned answers" to give to clients.

We booked our air through Viking this time and know they will have to deal with getting us home...we aren't worried about that. We are "supposed" to go to Taipei, then a day at sea, then two nights in Hong Kong.  We kinda think that if things don't change dramatically, the ship will dock in Taipei and just stay there.  I don't think they'll shorten the trip due to having to give refunds.
