david4455 Posted August 19, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2019 Thinking of taking our first cruise ever and the ship ends in Seward. Disembark at 8AM. ( Oceania) Knowing it takes approx. 3 hours to get from Seward to ANC , what would be a safe time to book our flight from ANC back to Seattle.Thanks. Ashland Posted August 19, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2019 It would depend on how you're choosing to arrive at ANC (flight home that day). You can book the train transfer with your cruiseline but flights can usually be no earlier then 2:30pm. The train ride is approx 4 hours (126 miles). For earlier flights leaving day end of cruise you can book with a private group bus option. One we like and have used is Alaska Cruise Transfers. beeandkmon Posted August 20, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2019 We really enjoyed Seward so if you have the time I would consider staying for the day- it was our favorite port!
mapleleaves Posted August 20, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2019 (edited) There are limited options for getting to Anc from Seward so you will have to look at the timing of each one and also where the drop off location is ( probably not the airport). Options include: - the Alaska Railroad is a 4 hr trip and leaves Seward around 6pm. - the Park Connection Bus has a couple of departures per day www.alaskacoach.com - Seward Buslines - cruiseline transfer - several transfer companies, incl Alaska Cruise Transfer https://alaskacruisetransfer.com If none of these times work for your flight, you can do one-way car rental from HERTZ, or PJ's taxi in Seward. The airport is quite small and very busy. Lots of people with lots of luggage and/or boxes of frozen fish. So be sure to arrive at least 2 hrs prior. Even with a rental car, I'd say your earliest flight would be 2pm and that's tight. Edited August 20, 2019 by mapleleaves
thegoaliegirl Posted August 20, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2019 I just used Bear Paw Transportation https://www.bearpawtransportation.com/ to get to Whittier and were so happy with our private transfer. Another one to look into.
