Hello!

Has anyone taken the Krka National Park Walk excursion while in Split?  (We have already booked it, but may possibly switch it to a different excursion..) Can you tell me if there is any free time afterwards before you get back on board the ship?  It doesn't say there is...but the Krka National Park & Dubrava Falconry lists free time for lunch etc afterwards...Thinking I may have to switch excursions to get a bit of free time in?!

We did the Krka excursion from Zadar, not Split.

We did not do the Falconry one, but one listed as Krka and walking tour of Zadar.  The difference in time listed between the two tours was approximately a half hour more for the falconry tour.  On board ship, the times gives for the excursions were 7 hours for Krka/walking tour and 7 1/2 hours for Kraka/Falconry.

As Split is farther away from Krka than Zadar, your travel time will be longer. I  would check to see how long your excursion is listed for as your time may be even more limited than ours turned out to be.

The first thing you should be aware of is if the glowing description of the Krka visit includes a statement about having time to swim or free time, don't believe it (even if your cabin steward leaves a beach towel in your cabin the night before  for your "beach day").

You will have time to hit the bathroom and walk at a good pace around the path. We were given approximately 1/2 hour of free time before we were required to be back on the bus.

The climb back up to the bus (lots of climbing up about 150 steps) and the walk back to the bus area will require about twenty minutes if you are in top aerobic condition and longer if you are not or also have to work your way through crowds of people (including those who have baby strollers on a narrow bridge or walkway).

Leave the towel in your cabin, you won't need it.

Those on the falcon center excursion had their excursion leave the ship about 15 minutes before our excursion. As they met up with us at the same restaurant for lunch and arrived about the same time as us, they must have been really hustled through Krka with no free time and only had a very short stop at the Falconry Center.

Lunch is served at a restaurant close to the Krka Park.  Service was very slow and the room was stifling due to inadequate AC  and no air circulation.  If you stay for the entire meal, there is no free time.

While we were suppose to have a short walking tour upon our return, we were so close to boarding time, we just returned to the ship.

To decide if you will keep the excursion, determine how long you will be in port and the  amount of time listed for your excursion.

If you can work in the included excursion, don't hesitate.  the literature looked a little 'dry' on paper.  We wet zip lining that morning and did the included after lunch on board.  It's a walking tour and very informative.  One of the best as far as we were concerned.  Our guide was from there and lived in this area of the city. Beyond what we were expecting.
