Sugar Straw Question

I'm on Carnival Liberty right now and there are only plastic straws so they're probably using the supply until it is gone.

On last week's Conquest sailing I had some kind of non plastic straw in a Mango Madness - perhaps a sugar straw?  It functioned okay for the short time we were at the comedy show, maybe 45 minutes?

Maybe they’re better inside than outside. My straw was soft and sticky within two minutes at the red frog rum bar...in the shade.
