I was just reading over the TA reviews from October, 2018 to get a feel for the crowds. Several posters mentioned that passports/ID's were randomly checked upon entry. Has anyone out there experienced this?

I can’t speak for Viking but we visited the Alhambra on a Celebrity cruise and no, we didn’t need to have our passports with us, maybe because it was booked thru the cruise line???  If you do need to have with you Viking will tell you so no worries.

one word of advice tho, if this is a tour you have your heart set on, book as soon as you’re able, only a limited # of tickets are available per day and this can lead to disappointment.  If it’s not available thru Viking you’d have plenty of time to check out a different company, just don’t wait too long.

I was lucky enough to get the excursion through Viking. Thanks for the info!

I was on the Viking excursion to the Alhambra earlier this year and passports or other form of government issued picture ID was required. At certain points in the tour you may be asked at random to show ID. This actually happen to people in our tour group. Security is tight and they require your name to be pre-printed on the tickets. This is one reason that it is such a hard tour to book (the other is the number of visitors daily is restricted so no add-on buses). Even if someone is a no-show or cancels (that happened in our group) they cannot book someone else in their place after tickets are issued. You won't be able to book this tour on-board because it will be sold out.
