Port or Starboard side cruise to Japan?

I am thinking of booking a cruise from Shanghai to Kobe, Tokyo and Osaka. Which side of the ship would give me the best view? Will I be able to get nice views from the balcony? Assuming is worth it.

We have done two cruises to Japan (and already booked a third). Each was on a different side - and it made no difference.
