rcprncss Posted September 2, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2019 The day we visit, there are three ships scheduled and our ship will be the last there, arriving at 10am. Will Seven Mile Beach be super crowded? Can you suggest a different beach to go to close by? Thanks.
cruisefan123 Posted September 2, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2019 It will be crowded. There were 3 ships in port when we were in Grand Cayman. We opted to rent a cabana at the Royal Palms Beach Club and were glad we did. Hope this helps.
rcprncss Posted September 3, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted September 3, 2019 Thanks. I figured it would be crowded. Usually, when I know there are three ships, I get off ASAP to have the best selection of chairs. That won't be the case here. The other ships arrive at 0700 and 0800. TravellingBritNY Posted September 5, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 5, 2019 If you are looking to go to the same places with facilities that every other cruise ship visitor wants, then yes, it's going to be crowded. However, if you are willing to do things like picking up some food and drink at a supermarket, and throwing down your towel on the beach and enjoying the calm, then no, it doesn't have to be - you can go to Cemetery Beach or Governor's Beach and be on that dreamy Caribbean beach that many dream about and only have a handful of people there. I will go to those locations far more often than the beach clubs with facilities.
rcprncss Posted September 5, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted September 5, 2019 BritNY, Thank you so much. I do like having the beach chair and umbrella for shade. I will look into those two beaches anyways.
Capt_BJ Posted September 6, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2019 3 ships is not a large 'port load' for Cayman investigate Smith's Cove . . . .
TravellingBritNY Posted September 22, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2019 The only thing that Smith Cove has over Cemetery or Governors is a washroom and an outdoor shower and some picnic tables. There are no beach chairs, umbrellas, food or drink there, but if no frills is ok, then I agree it's also a good option. You won't need an umbrella at any of these locations - the trees there provide ample natural shade. But if beach chairs are a need then none of them are going to fit, sorry. cb at sea Posted September 29, 2019 #8 Share Posted September 29, 2019 There are land-vacationers and residents, too! Not just ships cause crowding! And 3 ships isn't a huge deal...they only allow what they can handle!
Jasukkie Posted October 2, 2019 #9 Share Posted October 2, 2019 For comparison, on January 8th there will be 6 ships in port, with potentially 16,000 visitors. I'm one of them lol, not sure what to expect. That seems like a lot. Last time I was there it was a tender port.
