Car rental

Has anyone rented a car recently in Roatan? I found a bunch of old posts about car rental, but nothing newer. My boyfriend and I will be there next month and he really wants to rent a car and explore some ourselves. We're cruising in on Norwegian which I docks at Coxen Hole. Are there any car rental places nearby or would we need to take a taxi to get to one? If anyone has some tips or suggestions of places to see/stay away from, they'd be greatly appreciated!

Car rentals are at the airport.  A short  taxi from your pier. 

Get a good detailed map.

where do you want to go?
 

I would think it would be much easier and convenient to get a driver for the day. You would have someone who would know the places to go tailored to your needs, and the convenience and flexibility. There are any number of driver companies recommended regularly on here.
 

Seems a hassle to pay for a taxi to and from a rental when you could be on your way.

First time there? Get a driver for the day. Roads are narrow and in some places , "interesting" to navigate. With time spent dealing with rental and time allowed to be back to ship in time not worth it. Is your ship tendering? Even less a good option with many ships in ,port adding to traffic. My son loves on east end and they don't even go into Coven Hole on molto ship days
