Land Based Casino Cruise Certificate

I received an offer from my favorite land based casino to receive a cruise certificate. All that I know is that the cruise line is RCCL, and that I go to the casino to pick up the certificate. Does anyone have experience with these certificates and can advise me what to look for or to watch out for?  I am aware that I will probably pay port charges and personal expenses, are there other fees, taxes or expenses (beside any typical shipboard expenses) that may be added on?  Is there any negotiation possible with the people when I pick up the certificate?  Will I get a 1099 for the certificate?

I have cruise many times with different cruise lines, and am Platinum with RCCL, I know about the cruise experience itself.  I hope it's legitimate and something of value.  We have been sailing Carnival exclusively for many years and this will get us back inside an RCCL ship if it works out.

Thanks,

HB

H-B, I have received 2 of these certificates. The first one was for Carnival.  Pretty straight forward, only had to pay port fees and taxes.  2nd one was for Norwegian and if I remember correctly, there were port fees and taxes and an Administrative fee.  There were more restrictions on sailing dates and ships.  I did not use the Norwegian certificate because I could not find a date that worked for me and the Administrative fee left a bad taste in my mouth. Please read your certificate thoroughly, I never could find anything about this fee.   I have not received one for RCCL.  Which casino company is associated with them?

MGM.  And the association is a marketing relationship with reciprocal loyalty program casino benefits.  There is no financial connection between them.

I have an MLife card and frequent two of their casinos on a regular basis. I thought they were associated with Norwegian and you either got a free cruise or a discount that matched your MLife status.  Just went to Gold Strike in Mississippi last week and they had a picture of a NCL ship in their foyer and there  was a brochure in the hotel room for NCL. I will have to do some calling to see about the RCCL connection.  Thanks

MLife have had a relationship for many years.

I used to have MLife Gold from my Hyatt status.   When I cruised in fall of 2014, I got free drinks in the casino, dinner for 2 in Chops, and a few other perks.
