lovetotraveltx Posted October 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2019 Asking for a friend. She has a flight arriving at 6:00 am into San Juan the morning the fascination leaves, this December 29. Her port arrival time is not until 1:00 pm. Does Carnival offer transfers and/or any kind of package for those hours between arriving at the airport and when she can board? Also, she is not flying out until early Monday morning. Anyone have a good hotel, preferrably with a shuttle for one night after they disembark on January 5? They are a family of 5 so she needs a family suite or two rooms. Would love any Fascination tips, especially on a New Year's Cruise. Two parents in their Early 50's a 22 and 25 year old woman, and a 15-year old boy. Thank you!
luv2trvlnow Posted October 20, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2019 Unless things have changed the hotels do not offer shuttles to the airport. It is easy to take a cab. They are set rates between different areas of the city. Here is a link to the rates: https://sanjuanpuertorico.com/taxis/ For after the cruise you might like a hotel near one of the beaches. We stayed at the Embassy Suites and the Hampton Inn in Isla Verde. There is a nice beach a short walk away. There are many hotels to choose from. The Marriott Courtyard is in a good location right on the beach in Isla Verde. Of course our experience was before the hurricanes.
soonernstlouis Posted October 20, 2019 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2019 A 6am arrival at SJU is a bit of a problem as far as finding things to do until: •9am when Barachinas opens for luggage storage and El Morro fort opens •11am (on Sundays) when shops and most other activities open If your friend does not want to explore OSJ or has a lot of luggage to pull along, I would actually suggest hanging around the airport until 8:30 in order to avoid being dropped of near the port with nowhere to go. I highly recommend exploring OSJ though. With luggage dropped off, it is walkable and has many great/unique restaurants. Here is a link to our recent Fascination review. Let me know if you have any specific questions. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2701132-fascination-review-92219-92919/
Rare georgiacat Posted October 20, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2019 We stayed in Holiday Inn Express (before the hurricane). I hear that it is still operational. It has a good location, one block from beach, close to food, ice cream. Price was good. Check them out.

Room was nice, location is great and economical (about $150). However the room construction is ongoing and things like the breakfast look below par.
