msjazzymiss Posted October 27, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2019 Just booked the Anthem for a France, Spain cruise leaving from Southampton. I’m a Floridian and accustomed to the very hot summers. How hot does it get in Europe during mid-July? I’m hoping to get in a beach day or two. Also, are US dollars accepted? Thank you. Rare John Bull Posted October 28, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2019 At that time of year southern Spain is usually hot & sunny, and nowhere near as muggy as Florida. Portugal depends on wind direction - on-shore winds (south-westerlies) are the norm & take the edge off the heat. The further north you go the less-reliable the weather, but generally still warm & usually dry. US dollars are no good in these countries. Currency is the Euro, except in England which has the GB pound. Visa & Mastercard credit cards are very widely used, but don't rely on acceptance of Amex or Diners Club. Rare MicCanberra Posted October 28, 2019 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2019 We have had temps above 100 Fahrenheit in St Petersburg and also in the low 30s in Greece, both in July but different trips/years. The weather will be what it will be, that said, it is likely to be the hottest part of the year.
