jbohannon45664 Posted November 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2019 My wife, kids, parents, and I will be in San Juan in December. We would like to take a taxi to a nice beach that offers food options as well. Any recommendations? What would be the cost? Are the taxis large enough to hold 6 people? Rare crewsweeper Posted November 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2019 Both Condado and Isla Verde have nice beaches with several bars and restaurants along the ocean side. Here's a map: https://sanjuanpuertorico.com/beaches-map/ Here's a taxi guide: https://sanjuanpuertorico.com/taxis/

Do yourself a favor and don't go to the beach in Condado during winter. Surf is rough in that area during that season and the popular beaches like Escambron (which has no food facilities) and the beach behind La Concha and Marriott Stellaris hotels are not really safe, especially for kids. My best suggestion would be Isla Verde beach at the end of Tartak street. The water is much calmer, there are vendors for chairs and umbrellas. It has a restaurant across the street but it can be pricey but there are several more casual restaurants and fast food joints (BK, Wendys, Church's Chicken, Taco Bell, Chilli's, etc) within walking distance from the beach. Taxi rates are quoted per trip for up to 5 passengers but the vans carry up to 7 (6th and 7th passenger add $2 to the base rate). All in all you should be looking at a $22-$24 fare each way for all of you.

bonsai3s Posted November 20, 2019 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2019 We were just at Isla Verde beach...beautiful! and highly recommend it. Another option instead of taxis is Uber...quick, efficient, and a bit cheaper. If you can, show up early and you'll have this breathtaking beach to yourself. For a quick bite...follow your nose...there are locals selling empenadas ($1-$2 each) and chicken barbeque...they are cooking right on the beach! If not, there's plenty of fast food along the main street, a block or two from the beach. Have fun and Happy Sailing!
