Roccaforte Posted November 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2019 We’re back from a Western Caribbean cruise on Insignia. The ship looks great and our PH was bright and comfy. Our previous cruises were on Riviera so the bathroom was very small in comparison. No tub but a nice glass enclosed shower. Embarkation and parking in Miami was a breeze, we were having lunch at Waves by 11:30. The food was very good in the GDR and the Terrace Cafe. Polo and Toscana were excellent. We often chose to eat dinner at the Terrace because some nights the menu for the GDR was not too interesting, The grilled lobster tails and shrimp are very popular and dining outside on a warm Caribbean night is a treat. We really missed having four specialty restaurants. Besides superior food they make for a special evening out. Although we had a wonderful week I would probably opt to sail on Riviera or Marina in the future. Our butler was excellent and he served us breakfast in our cabin every day. He also provided canapés every evening and kept our champagne chilled. The other crew members were consistently smiling and helpful. The CD Carson was a very talented entertainer. His show was outstanding. Announcements were kept to a minimum. The ports of call were the usual - beach, ruins or shopping. On this cruise the ports were very crowded because of all the ships being diverted from their planned Cuba stops. At two ports we had to tender because of two or three mega ships already docked. Staying on board was a very pleasant option😄. We’ve sailed on most of the other lines and find that Oceania is the best product for us. We’re already researching our next cruise.
Mura Posted November 25, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2019 Sounds good! We have been on all of Oceania's ships now and I understand your preference for the O-class ships. We like both classes for different reasons, but I agree that when we are on an "R" ship we miss the extra restaurants and extra spaces. But smaller is smaller! We still will sail on either class. But it's clear from many posts by many people that there are those who still prefer the "R" ships as well as people who prefer the larger ships. To each his own! agnesd Posted November 25, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2019 Its interesting we didn't like the Marinas configuration. We will only sail on the smaller ships. But to each his own
Andee Posted November 25, 2019 #4 Share Posted November 25, 2019 We prefer the cabins on the O class ships, but the size of the R class ships and their public areas much better.
