rebel2k5 Posted December 12, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2019 I've only been on two cruises in my life. One 10 years ago and the other this past March. Both were Norweigan. I am used to getting Vegas and other gambling resort offers. But I've never received one for a cruise line. However, I received this mailer for Carnival. I was wondering if any table games players can chime in as to how many points they have earned on past trips? I did some research and saw slot play gets 1 points for every $2.5 dollars spent. However, I just play table games 99% of the time where my average bet is around $50 a hand for a few hours a day at any casino. Just looking to get an idea of how many points I could possibly earn a day. And I know you never chase offers, but if I am already going to gamble for a few hours, why not go someplace that has some good rewards. And this is my first post. So sorry if this is not the correct place to post this. If so, I will delete it.
4hunters Posted December 12, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2019 Welcome to Cruise Critic. I play craps exclusively and just like in Vegas it's up to the pit boss to track your play. Generally those "points" they're referring to are given to the people playing the slots.
rebel2k5 Posted December 12, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted December 12, 2019 Thanks for the reply 4hunters. Yeah, in my experience, table games are hard to accrue points. I only get good points at my local because the floor supervisors know me and like me, so they're on top of it. But other than that, you have to keep making sure you're getting rated. It's mainly the slot players who get the points. And no way am I going to put in $5,000 coin in on a slot machine to get $500 lol.
klfrodo Posted December 12, 2019 #4 Share Posted December 12, 2019 (edited) My experience only. I am not a big player. However, my wife and I do play. My Wife is exclusive to slots. Her budget is $2 - $3K for a 7 day cruise. She earns big points, gets free drinks, bottles of wine sent to dinner, and offers like the OP is receiving. My budget is the same. I enjoy table games more but will sit at the occasional slot. I earn very few points due to the table rating method. My table play averages about $25 per hand. That's what I figured. Do you remember how many points your wife earned? And thanks klfrodo for the information, I really appreciate it!

She won a small jackpot that required a 1099G. I requested and received a Win/Loss statement for tax purposes. I was surprised to see that the "total play" was about $21K for her alone. While you are playing the slots, there is a small screen by the X bet buttons that has your points. The points do not accumulate from one cruise to the next. Even on back to back cruises, on the second week, you start over.
spyingeyes Posted December 14, 2019 #9 Share Posted December 14, 2019 For about the past 5 years, I have only cruised on Premiers, Ultras, etc. and have only had to pay taxes and port fees. I typically get onboard credit that covers the taxes and also cruise cash (anywhere from $500-$1500 or promotional chips). I play UTH and Blackjack and average $50-100 per hand and up. I always have the drinks on us card waiting in the cabin for both my wife and I. I’ve never played a slot machine, so I couldn’t tell you how many “points” I get each cruise But I can tell you that win or lose in the casino, Carnival keeps me in good supply of cruises. As I’m sure you know it’s based solely on time, average bet, and theoretical losses for table players. You’ll undoubtedly be better comped in land based casinos for this level of play, but we love to cruise so I’ll continue to take advantage of what they give. Good luck! 1

Thanks a lot spyingeyes. I think once me and the lady become regular for cruises, I will take advantage of it more often. But for now, I think land based comp trips will be our primary vacations. Thanks again eyes! :)
