Opinions on the Sunrise

I'm boarding next Monday!

Perhaps I can contribute more then, but I did sail on her sister ship the sunshine last year and it was fine.  My opinion is that there is way to much made of the particular ship.  If you intend on having a good time, you will! There are always going to be things that maybe you don't care for, but I focus on what I do like and always have fun!

Thank you, and I totally agree! I am a positive person, who always has a good time. I've always enjoyed every ship I've been on. I'm just interested in learning more about this ship, since I'm pretty sure it's the one we're going to book. Just waiting for my PVP to get back to me 🙂 So exciting! Have a great Cruise next Monday!

We were on the Sunrise last September.  After I booked, then read the reviews here I was very hesitant and second guessing myself.  However, we had a great cruise!  Food, for the most part, was good.  We didn’t see the over crowding which I’d read so much about.  Their are a few wonky ship designs — it took us a while to figure out how to get to the comedy club, and the smoke in the casino which you almost have to go through was thick!  No regrets and I’d sail her again!

I sailed on the Sunrise in September and I am not sure where all the negative reviews came from. The ship was fine. The design is a little different and requires some patience but all the amenities you expect are there. I didn't notice overcrowding anymore than any other ship I've been on. The service I received from the room steward, guest serices, dining staff, etc was the same good service I always see with Carnival. No complaints.

I sailed the Sunrise in Sept. The ship overall is fine. The only problem I encountered was a lack of seating in Lido at heavy periods of time. Someone will come on and say they sailed it and did not have that problem. I am glad for them but it did occur on our cruise. The service on the ship was great as always and we encountered no problems on the ship. Common areas do seem smaller than her sister ship the Sunshine.

We are booked on this ship in August and don't really have any concerns. We have never had a bad cruise. One of our cruises was even on the fantasy and we enjoyed it.. Your cruise is what you make of it. I get up early and get a spot of serenity and spend the whole day there. My wife and I even eat our meals in our chair.  Crowds happen on cruise ships just get to the things you really want to do early and enjoy.

i agree with this. i was on the sunrise back in June. My biggest issue is how crowded the lido area can get and there is a limited amount of seating compare to other ships. If only carnival can do something to increasing seating. I also hated how narrow the passageway can get between blue iguana and the deli, making passing through difficult if you have special needs

We sailed it in Sept.

While at peak time the Lido area was packed. Walk right outside on the Port side near the pizza or opposite side near the Seafood Shack there were always tables.

Matter of fact at least 5 days I sat at the same table near the Pizza place with my wife.

The other days we did brunch or Seuss breakfast.

We went right before Christmas.  I had read the bad reviews (specifically tied around crowds) so I wasn't sure what to expect but it was great!

We didn't get to port till like 2:30 so we were one of the last to board so we went to grab food quickly before muster drill and lines were fairly long but we still had time to eat lunch before muster drill.

The only real lines I ever saw on the boat were breakfast at the buffet between like 9:30-10:30 am.  Earlier then that it never looked that bad.

We had a larger group and never had a problem getting two tables next to each other with anytime dining.

Never had a problem getting seats together for any of the events we went to.

Serenity Deck always had people on it, hots tubs were always full, the chairs immediately around the pool were always full (this is case on every boat) but there was still seating to be found when needed.

I was mostly impressed with the food.  The new seaday brunch menu was so good - go to that as much as you can.  But even some of the option in main dining room or lido buffet (their fresh salads  and the asian noodle type Pho things) were great.

We sailed in August 2019 and noticed these "choke points" (same thing applies on the other side with Guy's and Lucky Bowl). Some of the buffet lines were bad - DH gave up on the deli line after waiting 10 minutes without moving - but many were fine.  We didn't have any difficulty finding places to sit. The other place I didn't like was the Liquid Lounge - but then, I didn't like it on Vista or Horizon either. It's just something I've learned to avoid. Overall, I liked Sunrise. I liked it well enough that we booked a 9-day Journeys cruise on Radiance this summer.
