Norwegian v Carnival

I have sailed on Carnival and Norwegian and I know that Carnival allows you to bring canned soda on board.  Does Norwegian allow you to bring a small amount of soda on board?

Can I bring water or soda on board?

Effective for sailings July 15, 2016 and beyond, guests are prohibited from bringing any beverages -- including liquor, beer and non-alcoholic drinks such as water, soda and juices -- on board either as carry-on or checked luggage, with the exception of purified or distilled water in factory-sealed containers for use in conjunction with medical devices or for the reconstitution of infant formula; and fully sealed and/or corked wine bottles for personal consumption onboard that is subject to screening and a corkage fee (for guests 21 years of age or older). Open beverages of any kind must be consumed or discarded at the security check-point, on embarkation day and at any port of call. This revised policy brings the company in line with other best practice travel security protocols and reduces the need for individual time consuming screening and package inspection of large volumes of beverages.

Which do you prefer, Carnival or NCL?

You get what you pay for,  if you are looking for a party and less quality,  Carnival is great.  If you like broadway shows top end dinning go with NCL.  I hev over 20 cruises with NCL along with 6 Carnival.

Also note that the no beverage/soda policy also applies when returning time in the port. Enjoy your drinks while in port, but do not purchase any and expect to bring it onto the ship with you.

 

If you buy alcohol they will collect that from you as you go through security and return it you at the end of the cruise (actually pick up may be the last evening).

The only exception is purchasing soda (ie Coke) and water from the vending machines your embarkation port after you have passed through security.

We had Metal Water Bottles in the side pockets of my Backpack (exposed), was not an issue getting on board.

Carnival appears to have lost its way.  I've come back to NCL after about 20 years of sailing Carnival exclusively.
