Luv2Kruize Posted January 20, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2020 Has anyone stayed at either of these hotel's in Venice? They are sister hotel's and are next to each other but Hotel Olimpia is higher in price. Any other hotel/BnB recommendations close the the port? mapleleaves Posted January 20, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2020 A listing of hotels near Piazalle Roma : https://europeforvisitors.com/venice/bridges/piazzale-roma.htm Both hotels you noted have been well reviewed on this forum. Use the SEARCH feature above, specifying THIS FORUM only. IIRC, the Olimpia has an annex so you may want to look into that.

rdt10 Posted January 20, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2020 We have stayed at Olimpia and at the new AC Hotel by Marriott, across from the people mover on Piazalle Roma. AC is more modern than Olimpia and no bridge to cross, although the bridge to Olimpia is small. Would recommend both. For either book early as the prices tend to go up closer to arrival. wannasail4ever Posted January 26, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2020 Looking for Venetian hotels before Rhapsody in October, 2020. Are these recommendations far from the port and the canals to Palace of the Doges and other things that I MUST DO?? Macy
mapleleaves Posted January 27, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 27, 2020 Venice is very small. You can walk from this area ( Piazzale Roma ) to St Marks in less than 40 minutes, or take a water bus, or water taxi. There are maps posted in the link above. People choose hotels in this area because it's close to the cruise port and you don't have to carry luggage over bridges to get to your hotel. Once they're free of their luggage they'll walk 2 blocks to the Grand Canal and catch a water bus.
cleobella Posted January 30, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 30, 2020 We stayed at Arrlechino a few years ago and it was very good. It is a small, comfortable hotel, right at the beginning of Venice proper, so you have just one small bridge to manage with your bag, and you are close to the transportation hub in case you go further a field. The room was interesting, cozy, and the bed was good. The staff were very nice. In the morning they served a European breakfast that was super good, beautiful meats, cheeses, breads and specialty coffee in civilized sizes. I'm not sure if we paid a fee for the breakfast.
