marylizcat Posted January 31, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2020 I should be grateful if somebody could clarify the situation regarding the water on Explorer. I am a bit concerned to see references to a carafe in the cabin which has to be filled at a water station in the corridor. What is that about? We have always used the tap water from our cabin bathroom on other cruises, since it is the same water as served in the restaurants. Is the tap water on Explorer not drinkable? Seems a pain to have to fetch water to fill the kettle!
Pensioncruiser Posted January 31, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2020 No problems with using tap water, we do in the cabin and have the free water available at meal times.
Rare dronnygirl Posted January 31, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2020 We like the water dispensers, we fill the kettle from the tap but always fill the carafe from the dispenser as the water is very cold. It's really not a pain as there are several dispensers on each deck corridor. We also use the carafe to fill our water bottles to take ashore. Much better than purchasing plastic bottles. 2BACRUISER Posted January 31, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2020 Tap water for kettles is fine as dronny girl says the water out the dispenser is cooled so its nicer to put in your water bottle when you go ashore. Hth explain 🙂
Rare Brummijam Posted February 1, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2020 Hi. The water on the ship is from a storage tank as opposed to the water at home which is from a flowing supply so sometimes it has a taint to it but it is fine for the kettle. The water coolers usually have a filtering system installed in them so it tastes a lot better to drink straight out.
marylizcat Posted February 3, 2020 Author #6 Share Posted February 3, 2020 Thanks everybody! So we will just continue to use the cabin tap water as usual then.

If you do upgrade to the premium drinks package you have bottled water in your cabin. 👍

We can just pay the extra as we go along if need be. Cheaper that way. We won’t really need much bottled water, it is unlikely to be very hot. Vitalsign Posted February 3, 2020 #9 Share Posted February 3, 2020 And you won't want to use bottled water in your kettle with all those minerals in it ugh!!
