nklpikl Posted February 4, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2020 Is there a shuttle that runs from Vancouver airport to the cruise port or are we better off taking a taxi?
Husky61 Posted February 4, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2020 This was found on Google. Taxi – A zone fare of $35.00 (CAD) applies to taxi trips from the Vancouver International Airport to Canada Place. It takes 30 to 45 minutes to get to the cruise terminal. Metered rates apply on trips from Canada Place to the Vancouver International Airport.
Rare martincath Posted February 4, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 4, 2020 (edited) Yes, and yes. Since you said 'we' that means there are at least two of you - so a shuttle is more expensive than a cab (which are fixed rate, $36 to the pier - less to almost all downtown hotels as the bulk of downtown is in the $32 zone). Edit - I'm guessing whatever source came up on your googling Husky was at least a year out of date. Taxi zone fares get reassessed every couple of years, and went from $35 to $36 last time around. Second edit - I'm guessing that you were hoping to save money with a shuttle. The cheapest way to downtown is SkyTrain at $8 or $9.25pp, depending on day and time. It's clean, safe, faster than a cab and pretty frequent, with only ~300 yards walk on the other end from WaterFront station. If it's an RT cruise, coming back is even cheaper as the $5pp fee only applies when leaving the airport, not returning - so price would be $3 or $4.25pp Edited February 4, 2020 by martincath

There isn't a shuttle as there is a direct subway line from the airport to Waterfront Station (3 blocks from the cruise terminal). Trains run every 6 minutes, it takes about 25 mins end to end. Exiting international arrivals, cross the street to the parkade, take the elevator to the top level where the station is. Cost is C$9.25/ea and if your credit card has tap (wireless icon on your card), or you have Apple/Android/Samsung Pay, you can just tap that to get through the fare gates.

Don't follow people down the tunnel, go to the south end (the end the train arrived from) of the station, and use the exit marked "Way Out - Granville St". it makes the walk a little bit shorter, and downhill, vs exiting via the main station building. And yes, there are elevators at all the exits.
Rare martincath Posted February 5, 2020 #8 Share Posted February 5, 2020 Thanks for the correction Scott - I forgot that Ace dropped airport pickups entirely for their shuttle buses, only collecting at hotels. They will take you to YVR from the pier ($18pp), but not pick you up there. IIRC their predecessors did have an airport pickup, but it cost more coming into town (YVR demands a fee for any company to operate pickups there, but anyone can drop you off without charge).
