Rare Fletcher Posted February 29, 2020 #76 Share Posted February 29, 2020 Some interesting and developing coronavirus issues in the Pacific. Silversea shipmate Terry from Ohio is currently aboard Oceania Regatta and reports that both Samoas refused them entry. Tonga is closed to cruise ships and now, instead of making Huahine their first port of call in French Polynesia, they must be cleared at Papeete first before calling at any of the other islands. Rare Silver Spectre Posted February 29, 2020 Author #77 Share Posted February 29, 2020 (edited) After a bumpy night we are sailing our final leg into Papeete this morning through a tropical storm, with heavy rain and poor visibility. Unfortunately we loose 3 of our bridge players and have a total of about 40 guests joining us. We await information about itinerary changes for the next leg. SS ship looking good, despite the rain and weather here. Front seems "stuck" over this region. Also saw James Packer's super yacht parked right next door!! We will see if the weather starts to clear or not. Good to be in your "neighborhood"!! THANKS! Enjoy! Below is a picture I took in Tahiti of your ship being docked next door. When are you departing and to where? We next go to Bora Bora for two days there. Then to Raiatea on March 4. Return to Papeete on March 5 as depart and head back to LAX and then home to Central Ohio. Will our paths cross again? THANKS! Enjoy! Rare Silver Spectre Posted March 3, 2020 Author #94 Share Posted March 3, 2020 Another Captain’s get together this evening and as expected we will not be going to Lifou, New Caledonia but will arrive in Sydney on the 19th, a day early, and unfortunately still at White Bay. We will also no longer get to Aitutaki, Cook Islands, but call at Raiatonga (not sure of spelling), so Fiji and Tonga are still ok.

Rare Silver Spectre Posted March 4, 2020 Author #99 Share Posted March 4, 2020 We just had an announcement from the Captain that we can no longer dock at Rarotonga, Cook Islands tomorrow and have also been barred from Tonga. That means 4 more days at sea and hope that we will be able to land in Fiji when we get there.
