Economic Impact

Recommended Posts

If you are referring to the economic impact of ancillary services and businesses, cruise ships not sailing will have a tremendous negative economic impact on those that service cruise ships, especially in the large port cities throughout the world.

In a study done by the Florida-Caribbean association,  they estimate the numbers to be nearly $3.4 billion in direct expenditures, 79,000 jobs and $903 million in employee wages just for the Florida-Caribbean region.

Globally, those numbers are  around $126 billion in total economic impact, and 1 million jobs paying $41 billion in wages.  (This includes the operations of the cruise ships as well not just ancillary services)

What Economic impact does not having cruise ships (all) sailing?  No food, liquid, fuel, port staff, luggage handlers, crew etc. Has to hurt a lot of places.
