Rare Smokeyham Posted May 30, 2020 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2020 As Canada has extended its ban to cruise ships through October 31, I wonder if we will see a lot more sailings this fall from U.S. West Coast ports to Mexico, as it looks like they are welcoming the return of cruise ships. CruiserBruce Posted May 31, 2020 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2020 Perhaps bit of a stretch....this story is about Progresso, on the Caribbean side, a somewhat new port, that is trying to grow its business. Not seeing relevance to West Coast ports.
KeepCalmBearOn Posted May 31, 2020 #3 Share Posted May 31, 2020 Even if West Coast Mexico ports were to open tomorrow to cruise ships, the question is are the cruise ships ready and willing to go to Mexico? I don't think the coronavirus has peaked in Mexico, Central America or South America yet. My heart goes out to the ports I've visited in Central America. Many of them are relatively small towns where the cruise ships arrival has a big impact. In Mexico many of the ports are larger towns so I worry a bit less, but even there there are any number of people who will be badly effected.
