bishop84 Posted July 2, 2020 #9 Share Posted July 2, 2020 (edited) It could be that Royal Caribbean are clearing the old (30+ year) ships from Pullmantur in order to move other tonnage to them once they sort out what is happening with their tonnage. As always everything is speculation until confirmed by the companies involved. It is likely that there will be many 'middle-aged' ships available in the near future. Any speculation that TUI/Marella may take advantage of this situation? Edited July 2, 2020 by bishop84 spelling

Any speculation that TUI/Marella may take advantage of this situation? Maybe more likely that Marella will be getting rid of even more ships. If TUI decide to downsize their cruise fleet the only 'old' ship they have is Mein Schiff Herz which should have been Explorer 2. As the current Explorer 2 is IMO not as good as the Discoveries get rid of that and transfer Herz to Marella. TUI other 6 ships are all built post 2014. I think you might be right bishop84 Spain is a big country and should have its own cruise line as you said i can see the rest of Vision class ships going across ,and possible a Radiance class, and Celebrity have three Century class could off load. As always everything is speculation.

Don’t think that Marella would get rid of Explorer 2 now that they have spent all that money on her refurbishment, the plan originally was that when Celebration left Herz would transfer to Marella as Explorer 3 - this would then tie in with the arrival of Mein Schiff 7. Obviously this might be all up in the air now and will probably be pushed back rather than brought forward. I think right now another Discovery is more likely than Herz transferring. bishop84 Posted July 14, 2020 #13 Share Posted July 14, 2020 Pullmantur's Monarch has now arrived off Aliaga, Turkey; a place where many ships have met their end. Apparently Sovereign is to follow shortly. Looks like Carnival's oldest ship the Carnival Fantasy is possibly heading for the same fate as she has sailed from Curacao with an AIS destination of Izmir, Turkey; which is very near to Aliaga.
