2022 Brisbane Hotel Recommendations Please

Recommended Posts

We are 1st time Australia Visitors planning a land/back to back cruises/land vacation in March of 2022.
To say we are excited is quite the understatement. WaHoo!!!

So beat it COVID-19, we’ve got some planning to do!
We plan to stay in Brisbane 4-5 days pre-cruises and 3-4 days post cruises.
We are saving Sydney/Melbourne areas for another trip.

Pre-cruise we’d like a hotel in a safe area so we can walk to cafes, shop, etc... Clean!

A hotel that has tour/excursion pick-ups. Near a park is a plus, as is airport transportation & a view.

Post-cruise maybe the same place or mix it up a bit?
Thanks in advance for any insights you can offer!

You could look at hotels near South Bank (views over the Brisbane River).  It's close to South Bank Parklands - nice for a stroll and has a man-made lagoon.  It is walkable to the Museum, Art Gallery, Performing Arts.    Also close to the train, ferry and bus network if you decide to take advantage of the public transport system.  You can easily catch a train to South Bank from the airport.  There are plenty of places to eat.

With the amount of time you are planning in Brisbane , you could look at travelling a bit further afield  The  first and last nights could be spent in Brisbane and then on your pre cruise , drive down to the Gold Coast and post cruise  visit  the Sunshine Coast  . Both have a wide choice of accommodation and great variety of attractions .

Have you thought about an apartment?  We prefer to stay in one for the extra space. We stayed for a week in the Arise Ivy and Eve apartments which we enjoyed. Convenient for South Bank, CBD and train station.

Thanks barneyboy. Yes, we usually prefer a vacation rental over anything else on most vacations.

We really like our privacy and the space you get with vacation rentals!
I have been looking at them. There are a lot of options in the Brisbane area. Nice!!
It seems some of the hotels have some privately owned units, that are on Airbnb and the like also.

My search continues...ok...I love the research nearly as much as the trip itself.  LOL

Looking for hotel near ship terminal and airport for 2 nights (Oct. 29 -31, 2023) in Brisbane before flight back to SFO. Also, one that will work to see some of the area.  Have  been looking but nothing.

Thanks

Yes.

We decided on Alcyone Hotel & Residences. Highly rated (on Expedia), appears to be modern, and near "Eat" Street. Also not far from the airport and the new Brisbane International Cruise Terminal. (Watching reviews of the hotel on YouTube eased our fears.)

It will be our first time in Brisbane and we'll be there next week.

Note: Intentionally stayed away from the Central Business District...too many temptations for shopping.

How was the Alcyone?

It was excellent and great value.

* Our room was large, immaculately clean with a separate living room and a kitchen. Even came with a washer and dryer...including soap...nice.

* There were plenty of places to eat nearby, a wonderful grocery next door, and a 24-hr restaurant near the lobby.

* It was a short walk to the river...you can catch the ferry or enjoy a nice walk or jog.

* This hotel is actually shared by people who lives there. We met a nice couple up by the small pool who said they live there and enjoy meeting cruise passengers.

* Not a negative for us...but it was away from the central business district.

* We used Uber from the airport and Uber from Alcyon to the cruise terminal.

Happy sailing!
