Brilliance of the seas out of tampa - gay friendly?

Doing a solo out of Tampa. Will it be easy to meet other gay people on board? Is the staff gay friendly? Other passengers? I can leave with a 100% solo cruise with no contacts, just curious of your experience past cruisers. Never been on this ship or cruise out of this port.

I've never had a problem with meeting others. There is usually a daily meetup, although it's not always very well attended because it tends to be held late at night. Definitely go on the first night. On my recent TA there were also several LGBT lunches.

Hello,

To my certain knowledge and experience, it's only Cunard and Celebrity that as LINES actively court LGBT passengers. When it comes to SHIPS, that then really depends on the Cruise Director on how far they go to host events.

RCI has a 'Community Noticeboard' usually near Guest Relations on which a card advertising a 'Friends of Dorothy' meet-up can be found. But if it isn't, you are free to write a card of your own.

Regards,

Cublet

Royal does put it's LGBT mixers and meetups in the Cruise Compass nowadays. On our last couples of cruises, there was a later-night mixer the first night of the cruise, and on subsequent evenings there was a scheduled daily meeting time in a specific lounge. These are always variable in attendance, sometimes because of what time they are scheduled for (too early or too late for a particular mix of people), but as mentioned above, you can always advertise your own desired time/place on a card on the community notice board.

It is a great ship. You will meet all sorts of people on your cruise. If you are looking specifically for gays there will be meet ups arranged for people that are gay although but to be honest I have never been on any cruise that doesn't do this. Shame there are no lines that have an equivalent for straights.

I know one of the senior officers on the ship is gay & he's quite social, cocktails etc...be he says RCCL has gotten strict about socializing w the passengers.

Hestoldme thereusually are lots of gay passengers, mostly from. The west coast of florida.

I never really found Celebrity to "court" gay pax. Usually the meetings were at the Martini bar, where it's hard to figure with all the crowds. Cunard & Princess do actively court us. A lot depends on the amount of gay pax. On our Star Princess cruise Jan. 2020 very few showed up. Same with Oceania. Oceania had their one meeting right at dinner. Not a good time. There were also some unfriendly pax on Oceania. Share a table with one pair. We now try to dine at a 2 top to avoid this. Mostly Southerners seem to be the issue. There is still a pretty good gay following on their ships, however, mostly due to the fine food & luxurious accommodations. I do recommend on Oceania, if you have to share a table, such as in Jacques or  Le Reserve, try to make it a larger table. Homophobes will generally keep quiet about their "phobia".
