DaveOKC Posted September 23, 2020 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2020 Last early March we cancelled a cruise and then a month later HAL cancelled another one for us. Since the FCC from the first one of $2400 went to the second one , getting it moved to a third cruise has been a mess. Finally, 6 months later, the FCC was finally cleared to be moved to my March, 2021 cruise (YEAH!). However, now the new statement is showing a net credit of $480 in our account! Does anyone know how this will be handled? On one hand part of it is FCC, but on the other we put $2000 in new cash into the cruise already, so I am confused. Any thoughts? aa7yy Posted September 23, 2020 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2020 I had a similar problem a month ago. $2400 FCC, applied to a new cruise. Does not show up as a deposit, just a reduction in price by $2400 and nothing down. For those of us that book and rebook this is going to be an argument in the future. What is my basis for a rebook ? For the simplest of examples, if that cruise is canceled, I will have no refund. (No deposit so no refund ?) Then it gets complicate. For now I will be taking refunds and starting over. It seems to me that if you hold out for the bonus you might be playing "double or nothing".
Gigi1977 Posted September 23, 2020 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2020 Mine is totally messed up. I had 2 FCC and now I have one and have NO idea what It/they were for as they match none of my figures. Waiting for 2 to be lifted from November Hawaii Cruise that were from Japan and Alaska and wondering what they will do with the OBC that was associated with those.… and if it will just ‘disappear’. So many, many question with no answers. I feel bad bothering my PCC as he doesn’t know answers and feels bad because he doesn’t know. I'm keeping paper copies of everything- bookings, emails etc. and would hope that others are doing the same. Hopefully all of this will be resolved soon but not holding my breath. DaveOKC Posted September 24, 2020 Author #4 Share Posted September 24, 2020 I am keeping all my old invoices from all the cancelled cruises involved, just in case. Way too many changes and money movement to trust HAL in keeping it straight.
Rare Andi Land Posted September 24, 2020 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2020 I just posted this on another thread: I have also had 2 cruises cancelled by Holland America. The way they handled the FCC was ridiculous. I had a $600 deposit on a Rotterdam cruise that was cancelled due to selling the ship. I opted for the 100% match in FCC. I put that deposit on a Volendam cruise that was cancelled. The offer of 100% was the same. I called this morning to find out how to transfer this to another cruise. I was transferred from reservations to a resolution specialist because what the reservation agent said made no sense. Basically, the “deposit” I had on the Volendam is considered as entirely FCC and I was entitled to no further compensation for the cancellation. They do not consider my original $600 deposit that I made for the Rotterdam cruise in the equation. What they are saying is that because I opted for 100% FCC at that point that I no longer have any “cash” on deposit and therefore do not qualify for anything further. The only was to get anything additional is if I had paid extra in cash. I then asked if I cancelled it entirely would I get my original $600 back. She said yes. I then asked again, if it’s considered as FCC and not cash how could they do a refund. The conversation went really downhill at this point and she said she’d just cancel my cruise and refund me my $600 because she was done. It was a really unpleasant conversation. DaveOKC Posted September 24, 2020 Author #6 Share Posted September 24, 2020 I think all of this cancelling and rebooking is wearing down the HAL staff and I understand that. However, they need to understand that they also need to take care of their customers properly or there will be no HAL.
Rare Gail & Marty sailing away Posted September 24, 2020 #7 Share Posted September 24, 2020 What is even worse is you can't not get a copy of your account showing your FCC in and out.
