Luv2Cruise1016 Posted December 28, 2020 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2020 My wife and I are planning Viking voyage Cities of Antiquity and the Holy Land. The cruise goes from Rome to Athens with 3 days in Jerusalem the last week of November and the first week of December 2022. Somewhat unsure of weather during this period of time. See temps in the mid-50's F, which ultimately might be good for touring, but a bit brisk for our sea days and balcony. We've been in the Mediterranean before but not during this time of year. Anyone who has taken this cruise or been in region during this time of year please advise what to expect. Thanks in advance.
Heidi13 Posted December 28, 2020 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2020 I have spent 3 months (Jan to April) in the Eastern Meddy on 2 separate years and other than a storm at the bottom of the Adriatic, the weather was brilliant. Most days were in the 60's & 70's. However, past weather is no guarantee what you will experience.
Squawkman Posted December 29, 2020 #3 Share Posted December 29, 2020 2 years ago, we did "Southern Mediterranean Discovery" (no longer available) from December 16 through December 23. We started in Rome and ended in Barcelona with stops at Naples, Trapani (Sicily), Cagliari (Sardinia), Algiers and Valencia. Our weather was the best of any trip we've ever experienced. Sunny, highs around 70F, evening lows at worst upper 50sF. But, as Heidi says, there's no guarantee.
Luv2Cruise1016 Posted December 29, 2020 Author #4 Share Posted December 29, 2020 Thanks to both of you. Trying to decide on this cruise between this voyage and Viking Homelands. At least it sounds like weather shouldn't be a consideration (but no guarantees).
Squawkman Posted December 29, 2020 #5 Share Posted December 29, 2020 We have Viking Homelands booked for April, 2023 with a pre extension to Oslo. There are chances of more variance in weather here than the Med, but we'll be prepared for it.
