rosewood jo Posted February 13, 2021 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2021 How were ur expeditions on zodiacs & kayaks? Enough for everyone? How did u find ur silversea expedition experience ? I looked at nat geo, Seabourn, le boreal, and am booked on wind if she’s ready in dec 2021. Would love to hear more from folks that have been to Antartica with SS. Stumblefoot Posted February 13, 2021 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2021 Cannot speak to the # of kayaks and whether they had enough, but the # of zodiacs on the Cloud had us in 6 groups of which 2 went ashore at a time I believe last January.
Rare WesW Posted February 13, 2021 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2021 (edited) Thoroughly enjoyed our Zodiac and Kayak experiences on the Silver Cloud in the Arctic (Svalbard,2019) and Antarctica (South Georgia Islands, 2020). The Expedition Team professionally guides you during your wet landings and Zodiac cruies to view wildlife/sea life/sea birds. Moreover, on excursions the Expedition team leads you on hikes, and provides talks about the history of the area, the wildlife and bird life. We enjoyed this experience so much we have booked another 39 days on the Silver Cloud next year (Capetown to Zanzibar). rosewood jo Posted February 13, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted February 13, 2021 Did u look at Seabourn or nat geo? For expedition cruises?
Rare WesW Posted February 13, 2021 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2021 No, since we had over 200 days on Silversea and from this board SS cruise critics like JPAlbany and DrRon who have over a dozen SS expedition cruises amongst them strongly recommended Silversea. We also have over 200 days cruised on Regent our go to line for classic voyages--we're booked on Regent's 2023 WC.

Mocamps Posted February 18, 2021 #7 Share Posted February 18, 2021 We sailed on the Cloud for both Antarctic and Arctic (2018 and 2019) but were only able to kayak in the Arctic. This was because almost half of the passengers signed up in the Antarctic and the weather turned on us before it reached our name on the list. However, we were able to go at least twice in the Arctic. We can't remember if it was 2 or 3 times but do know that some people who opted to kayak on the Iceland part of the trip (we only opted for Svaalbard because we wanted to see other stuff in Iceland) were able to kayak on almost every stop. We LOVED both trips and are hoping to do Greenland or South America this year - but don't honestly think either trip will go!
