pebbles1102 Posted May 19, 2021 Author #51 Share Posted May 19, 2021 The Missouri tour was very interesting. The ship was in service from 1945 to 1955. It was then decommissioned and sat dormant for 30 years. It was then put back into service in 1986 and served during the first Persian gulf war. All the displays were from the early 90’s. pictures of some of the technology on board
Rare philv Posted May 20, 2021 #52 Share Posted May 20, 2021 Enjoying your posts. We will hopefully be in Honolulu in September for cruise. Will arrive a couple of days early to see the sights. Especially looking forward to hike up Diamond Head and of course strolling Waikiki Beach. 🏖

pebbles1102 Posted May 20, 2021 Author #54 Share Posted May 20, 2021 Last stop was the Pearl Harbor aviation museum We bought The Passport to Pearl Harbor tickets. It includes admission to the USS Missouri(battleship) USS Bowfin(submarine) and the Aviation Museum. We never got to the Bowfin. Admission to the USS Arizona is free but you must reserve tickets for the boat ride over to the memorial. I don’t know if they have this normal times but there is a standby line if you didn’t get tickets in advance to the USS Arizona 2

KeepCalmBearOn Posted May 21, 2021 #59 Share Posted May 21, 2021 For a nice, chill meal; check out the Chart House in Waikiki. I think it is the oldest Chart House still in existence and the only one still owned by original partner Joey Cabell. Joey was born in Honolulu and by 15 was already a surfing legend at Waikiki. He and partner Buzzy Bent opened the first Chart House in 1962 and built the chain. When the partners sold the chain many years later Joey held on to the Waikiki location he opened in 1969 and he still runs the show at 82.

pebbles1102 Posted May 22, 2021 Author #70 Share Posted May 22, 2021 After the tour we walked around Chinatown. This is the most authentic Chinatown I have ever seen. It had all kinds of food, clothing, and souvenirs. It also had a pharmacy where you could get traditional Chinese herbal medicine.
