Casino Deal (Jackpot FJ7) - Worth it to book if I might lose the deposit?

I want to cruise. Now.

I also got an awesome deal that includes a free balcony and free drinks everywhere.

I'd have to put a $200 deposit down.

It would be for a December cruise out of Long Beach.

My problem? I'm in Canada and the border is still closed 😞

The deal expires July 6th so I have a bit of time but I really want to book this cruise.

Trying to decide if it's worth it to book and take my chances in losing the deposit. Also, if the cruise gets cancelled would I get the deposit back? I hope by December cruises are running but you never know.

Wish I lived near a port city (yes I'm whining).

We booked one out of Long Beach with the casino offer. Free drinks and balcony. Now we have a chance to do Alaska with the same offer (plus 200 OBC), I think we are going to pull the trigger on it too.

If you haven't booked the Alaska cruise yet, the freebies are sold out. The Long Beach one will probably sell out fast too if it isn't already sold out.

Right now there are 25 balconies availiable. I haven't checked out Ocean View or Inside as honestly I don't care what kind of room we're in.

Alaska isn't showing sold out for me but we've already been.

i would say if you haven't done Alaska yet to take that deal as normally its quite expensive and then you can save money to be used for excrusions.

I just tried to book Alaska again with my casino offer. Now it says inside rooms are $100 plus taxes etc and balconies are $830 plus.

I jumped on a free interior, $100pp deposit w/$200 OBC a couple months ago for Oct. and at the time was unaware of the NSO/CSO situation through Nov.1. My DS is a student and I was willing to lose the $200 if I didn't go. 10 cruises and never missed one so, I like my chances.

It is such a good deal and of course at some point cruise prices are going to be high again so might as well cash in.

I'd only book if you want to go. The border isnt so closed you cant go and isolate when you return to canada, it's being done. are you vaccinated?  Who knows until carnival says what their policies will be later on this year.

I have read canada intends to keep the border closed until early next year and their vaccinations are behind ours. If you dont think you are willing to isolate after you return to canada, I think I wouldn't.

Too many ifs. Sounds like a awesome deal though.

Cruise prices have already gone up after all that OBC was given out for rebookings.

I wonder how Carnival will handle the restart if Canadians are still under travel restrictions?

I'll be vaccinated by then but currently you still have to isolate whether you are vaccinated or not.  With only a 2 week school break I wouldn't have the option to isolate 😞

It would be interesting to see how many Canadians normally cruise and how that affects things.

Right now we have more first dose that the U.S. but nowhere near to having people with both doses.

I used to joke we wanted the borders closed to keep the U.S. out because of such high Covid numbers. Now the U.S. probably wants to keep Canadians out because we aren't vaccinated.

I'd be worried about Dec. weather in Canada at least as much as travel restrictions that may be lifted by then.

An odd question for a gambler to ask. Do you feel lucky?

🙂

I wish I had more confidence in the decisions being made in my country and province regarding Covid.. I had hope at some point.

One way to think about it is am I willing to lose $200 USD?

Have you tried a mock booking? From what some say these great deals are booking up in hours.

I have been checking daily or every few days and the same number of rooms are avaialible.

I had an offer in February that included the Mardi Gras that was gone in a week.

I do keep checking and once it gets down to a few rooms (right now it's 25 Balcony rooms for Long Beach and 6 Balcony rooms for Miami - thats not including Oceanview or Inside cabins)

my PVP has told me in the past that just because there might be a lot of rooms showing as open when trying to book a casino offer does not mean that there are actually that number of rooms available for booking under the casino offer. just a bit of information

I am also in Canada, I have a cruise booked for Jan/22. I am willing to take the chance on the loss of deposit. I believe and hope the border will be open, and no quarintine coming home. Take a chance, it will be worth it. You never know, if the border is still closed there will be so many Canadians in the same boat  ( haha) , Im sure Carnival will (maybe) let us put it toward a future cruise...fingers crossed
