lougee... I pretty much agree, but putting an 82-year-old man off in a tender (I recall it as being a tugboat, along with an ill or injured crew member) at Dutch Harbor is a little much. Tell the crew to keep an eye on the old guy and remind him there are cameras all over the place and a brig on "B" deck. Confiscate his walker ... :p

For those who seem to be concerned that the pedophile child molester had his vaction ruined, you folks worry me. Even if the risk was slight would you risk your child.

some people have no friggin' clue.. there are 'bad guys' out there in sheep's clothing .. trust me on that.. any cop ...or retired cop:D ....will tell you that...

 

any way to take down a 'skel' off the street.. or off a cruise ship if that's what it takes.. is good enuff for me.. and before anyone takes me to task on this particular incident..... I'm Catholic... went to 12 years of 'Cat-lick' schools and grew up in Brooklyn... guys like this deserve what they get...no matter how long it takes to hook them up..

I went to RC nuns' school in the 40's and 50's; the gals never touched us, never insulted us. They gave us respect and we gave it to those we met -- taught by example.

 

Speaking of being arrested as you get off the ship: I heard of some nasty old lady who was taken off one of the smaller ships (not the standard cruise ship size) in Juneau by the local police. I don't know exactly why, but apparently it was with the approval of everybody else on board for, as she was escorted down the gangplank, the pax were lined up along the railings applauding.

Given that it was a lengthy HAL cruise, if he said, "Come here often, little girl?" it couldn't be to anyone under 50 or 60. ;)

Exactly, that was why Volendam had to go into Dutch Harbor—no extradition problems.

 

Wonderful things happen, too. When we were in the Caribbean over Thanksgiving, our ship suddenly stopped. The Captain announced that they had spotted some people in trouble in a small boat ahead of us. We were going to wait several hours until the Coast Guard could come. In the mean time, our ship sent life jackets etc. We did wait until the Coast Guard came. The folks in the small boat were trying to leave Cuba and were heading to Florida. Fortunately, since they were in trouble, their lives were saved. Unfortunately, I guess they were sent back to Cuba. But we all were so happy that the people were saved. They waved to us and we all waved back.

 

Similar kind of thing happened when we were on Radisson off west coast of South America. The Captain announced that there was a ship in distress in the seas ahead of us. He had been told before we left port that a ship was missing and to look out for it. Fantastically, our paths crossed. The crew members had gone through their food and water, had lost radio contact, and had engine failure. Our Captain (he is French) sent them a case of champagne via a tender and some food. He radioed the ship's position. For us, because it was dark and at night, it was exciting—search lights lighting up the sea, the tender going to the rescue. Another wonderful event.

re: in the 60's Christian Brothers in St Augustine HS.. whack whack upside the head with an eraser if you were lucky.. sometimes with a hand.. bammm...:eek:

 

I 'learned well' as most of us did ...kept on the straight and narrow.. so they 'did me good' .. no regrets for a pretty decent education :D

Sorry but I hope they did more then put him off the ship. As a victim of child molestation by a senior citizen, the only cruise he should of been on was one to Alcatraz (to bad it is no longer a prison). There is no humor in this topic.

Thank you. I agree 100%. It's a shame they didn't just toss his sorry a** overboard.

 

I don't care how old he is ... the law applies to him too ... and I'm glad he was taken off the ship. Hopefully, he'll get what he deserves and spend the rest of his life behind bars ... and then eternity you know where.

You and DH could have some laughs. He had 4 yrs with the Christian Brothers at West Catholic HS in Phila and then on to LaSalle College before transferring over to U of Pa.
