Interval Covid testing on long cruises?

We are currently booked on the Jade from Dubai to Cape Town in December. Several of the countries that we are scheduled to visit require a negative Covid -19 test “not more than 72 hours prior to travel”. We are fully vaccinated and more than happy to test prior to departing the US, but does this mean that we also will need to retest prior to entering each of those countries before we are allowed to disembark or are we covered by the initial testing?

It will be entirely dependent on the agreements between the cruise line and the countries/ports being visited. NCL will make testing accommodations as needed. 

 

Let's look at a present-day example. The Bahamas requires a individual arriving by air or sea (sailing in from another country) to apply for a Health Visa and buy Bahamas health insurance for the duration of their stay. However, they have granted Royal Caribbean permission to stop based on current RCCL COVID protocols without having passengers do that. This example shows that while a country has COVID regulations, there can be exceptions for cruise ships making port calls.

But the RCCL protocols meet the standards for the Bahamas Health Visa and kills to birds with one stone in that RCCL must collect vaccination and test data before sailing.

 

For Florida sailings, it nicely falls under the loophole language in the Florida Executive Order and law which allows for public health measures mandated by any health authorities.
